At Onkologikoa we collaborate with Biodonostia on several programmes to develop new cancer biomarkers.
Biomarkers are characteristics of cancer cells (or of other patient cells) that give us a better idea of the particular characteristics of a tumour and match it to the best treatment or even enable the development of new therapies.
Thanks to several collaboration projects with Biodonostia, professionals at Onkologikoa research new biomarkers, particularly for breast cancer. We study markers which characterise, on the one hand, response to conventional therapies, or indicate resistance to them, and, on the other, new markers which may become protein targets for new drugs in the future.
